Our specialist team at the Institute of Dental Implants & Periodontics, lead by Dr Danesh-Meyer, have been providing the All-on-4 treatment to patients since 2005. The technique was originally pioneered by Dr Palo Malo at the MALO clinic in Lisbon and has been shown to be a predictable and highly successful treatment for replacing dentures with fixed teeth. Dr Danesh-Meyer, a specialist periodontist/ implant surgeon, has been involved in dental implants for nearly 2 decades during which time he as placed thousands of implants. As such he could see the great potential in the All-on-4 concept and the benefits it offered patients.

The All-on-4 concept is ideally suited to replace a full lower denture. For most patients with full upper and lower denture, it is the lower denture that is most uncomfortable and difficult to eat with. The All-on-4 treatment provides patients a full fixed (non-removable) bridge on as few as 4 implants in the lower jaw. In most cases the complete treatment can be completed in a little as 1 – 3 days.

Most patients with full dentures or those patients with failing crown and bridgework who about to loose their teeth can benefit dramatically form this revolutionary treatment concept. Even patients that have suffered severe bone loss due to long-standing tooth loss and denture wear or from periodontal disease can benefit from the All-on-4 treatment. Due to the unique treatment protocol used in the All-on-4 concept, even those patients who have previously been told, “you don’t have enough bone for dental implants,” may still be able to have implant retained teeth with All-on-4.

All-on-4 concept works by taking advantage of the denser bone that often remains in the front part of the jaws. The key to the success of the technique lies with the unique positioning of the two most posterior implants on an angle so as to avoid the nerve canal in the lower jaw and the sinus cavities in the upper jaw. This has the distinct advantage of virtually eliminating the need for costly and time consuming bone grafting, which typically results in more discomfort and prolonged treatment times that may be as long as 12-18 months.

The implant bridge is screw-retained on the 4 implants. It can not be removed by the patient. It's just like having teeth secure in your mouth again.
