Dr Stella Lee obtained her Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2012. Following graduation, she gained extensive clinical experience in both public and private dental practices across Victoria before returning to the University of Melbourne to complete a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Implants) and a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics). She was awarded the Straumann Group Award for the highest academic achievement during her specialty training.
Having grown up in Auckland, Stella is excited to return home and join the team at the Institute of Dental Implants and Periodontics. She is a registered specialist with both the Dental Council of New Zealand and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Stella takes a personalised and evidence-based approach to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of periodontal and peri-implant conditions. She values clear communication and tailors every treatment plan to meet the unique needs and goals of her patients. She strives to ensure her patients feel informed, empowered, and actively involved throughout their treatment journey. She also works closely with general dentists, dental specialists, and physicians to achieve optimal long-term outcomes for her patients.
Beyond clinical work, Stella has a strong passion for research and education. Her research has focused on salivary biomarkers to distinguish between periodontal health and disease and monitor treatment response. She is actively engaged in dental education and enjoys mentoring and teaching dental students.
Outside of work, Stella enjoys embracing New Zealand’s stunning surroundings, whether tramping scenic trails, playing golf or relaxing with a good book by the beach. An avid traveller, she also loves immersing herself in new cultures and cuisines.
